Join Patricia as she interviews Dr. Lisa Uebelacker, an experienced research psychologist (PhD) at Butler Hospital and an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior for the Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Dr. Uebelacker is about to begin a new study on July 5 that seeks to determine whether adding supplemental care, such as yoga or a healthy living workshop, is helpful for people with depression who have gotten some, but not complete relief of their symptoms by taking an antidepressant alone. Dr. Uebelacker (pronounced Ewe-beh lacker) is part of the Psychosocial Research Department at Butler, which conducts clinical treatment studies in the general area of mood disorders, with specific emphases in the areas of depression and suicidal behavior, bipolar disorder, postpartum depression, and men’s experiences with depression. Lisa’s interests center around developing and testing innovative psychosocial methods for treating depression, including collaborative treatment for depression and comorbid health conditions in primary care, and the use of yoga as a treatment for pregnant depressed women. www.Butler.org/
